About This Role

This is a core role in the payroll specialist team at Crednology. You'll contribute directly to supporting our infrastructure, operations, and business mission in a remote, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Process recurring payroll cycles for employees and contractors, including validation of timekeeping data
  • Maintain employee payroll records, tax setups, benefit deductions, and pay rate changes
  • Handle off-cycle payments, bonuses, reimbursements, and corrections with proper approvals
  • Coordinate payroll tax filings and reconciliations with internal finance and external vendors
  • Prepare and support year-end activities including W-2 and 1099 generation and distribution
  • Respond to payroll-related questions from employees with clear, timely communication
  • Reconcile payroll journals and reports; identify and resolve discrepancies before close
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required payroll documentation and evidence
  • Partner with HR on onboarding, terminations, leave policies, and compliance updates

Requirements

  • 3–4+ years of hands-on U.S. payroll processing experience
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, wage and hour rules, and payroll tax compliance
  • Experience with end-to-end payroll cycles including deductions, PTO, leave, and garnishments
  • Proficiency with modern payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, Gusto, Workday Payroll, or similar
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills for payroll reconciliation and reporting
  • Comfortable preparing and validating quarterly and year-end filings (W-2, 1099, 941, state returns)
  • High attention to detail, discretion, and ability to manage confidential data
  • FPC or CPP certification preferred but not required
